OLD TESTAMENT…
We begin with the book of Genesis…the book of beginnings which describes the creation of man, the fall of man and God’s plan for the redemption of man. It is a glorious book that demonstrates that God is sovereign and loves his creation. The next book of the bible is Exodus which is the second of the historical books of the bible. Exodus follows Genesis chronologically and continues to show God’s faithfulness to the covenant and provide Israel with guidelines for healthy living. Leviticus follows Exodus and was a book written to instruct Israel on how to be holy and to be a blessing to others. The first five books of the Old Testament were written by Moses.

NEW TESTAMENT…
I have found, in my bible reading, that reading straight through four gospels can get a little monotonous for me therefore, I like to read the four gospels spread our over the course of a year. Even though the Gospel of John was the last gospel written, I like to start with it because it is so rich in revealing Jesus as the Son of God, the Word made flesh, who provides eternal life for all who believe in him. I immediately like to follow John with the book of Acts which is the history of the early church and how the Holy Spirit acted through the believers to establish the church and spread the word of God. Upon completion of Acts, we will move into one of the apostle Paul’s letters, 1 Corinthians, which gives us a picture of the role that the early leaders in the church played in maintaining consistency in what the Lord had established the church to be.
