Abundant Life

Genesis 2:8-9
"The LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden, and there He put the man whom He had formed. 9 And out of the ground the LORD God made every tree grow that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. The tree of life was also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil."

As I was reading this bit of scripture recently it dawned on me that God gave Adam and Eve the freedom to eat from the tree of life and yet...they chose to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. This ultimately led to sin resulting in their spiritual death through separation from God. It makes me think of how many times I choose my knowledge and understanding of things over the life that He has for me. Just like Adam and Eve, I am a fool when I choose knowledge over life, because the life that God has for me is far more abundant than any knowledge could ever bring. Jesus said, "I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly."( John 10:10). Oh that we would come to Jesus whenever we find ourselves tempted to be drawn to knowledge. May we never forget 1 Corinthians 8:1, We know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love edifies.

Lord we are so amazed at your patience with us, your mercy and your grace. Even when we puff ourselves up with knowledge the Holy Spirit draws us to Jesus...enabling us to receive abundant, overflowing life. Help us this week to walk in the truth of your Word knowing that in so doing we will experience a fullness of life that is not possible otherwise. Thank you for your unconditional love and forgiveness through Jesus...In His name pray...Amen!

God bless your week as you delight yourself in the abundant life He provides through our Lord Jesus. May you be strengthened in the knowledge of Him and Him alone.
