God Calls Us His Own

Jeremiah 5:31
"The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests rule by their own power; And My people love to have it so. But what will you do in the end?"

We certainly live in similar times as the days of Jeremiah. Daily we hear of horrible things committed in our land. Corruption within the church under corrupt leadership grows more and more prevalent and yet it seems that "...people love to have it so." What is so amazing to me about this verse is that the Lord still calls them "My people...". I am constantly in awe of the mercy and love of the Lord towards His creation. Even in the midst of disobedience God calls us His own. We are the ones left with the question, "But what will you do in the end?" The choice is always ours. God is always, always, always ready to respond to our call and when we do, we enjoy the sweet fellowship of His unconditional love and acceptance.

Father, it is only by the Holy Spirit that we can grasp the depths of your love. Thank you for the precious gift of Jesus in by whose name we are called your children. In His name we pray...Amen.

May your life be filled with the confidence that you belong to Him and may your response to Him always be to look to the Lord Jesus. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. James 4:8.
