God's Provision

Genesis 3:21
21 Also for Adam and his wife the LORD God made tunics of skin, and clothed them.

Adam and Eve had just sinned against God by eating from the “tree of the knowledge of good and evil”. They forsook all of the goodness that God had provided for them…and within moments after their sin God makes clothes for them, to cover their nakedness. This is so amazing to me! Their nakedness was the evidence of their sin. They didn't’t even know they were naked until they had eaten the fruit and God provides for them.

I received a stark reminder of the sinful world we live recently as I was traveling to New Mexico. It started with forgetting I had brought my little Swiss army knife with me and ended by being completely searched, including having to remove my shoes and have my moustache scissors confiscated. As I was being “frisked” with an armed soldier within an arm reach away, it was clear that we live in an evil world. Yet, even in the midst of the evil, we have a God who covers our nakedness…through the blood of Christ. He provides all of our daily needs and the hope of heaven that we can look forward to. Praise the Lord!

Father, thank you for your constant provision in our lives. We cannot comprehend that kind of love but we are so very thankful for it. Thank you for the hope of heaven that lies before all who put their trust in Jesus. May we grow daily in our understanding of how much you love us, that our lives would be a testimony to an evil world. May we find joy in loving and serving you…no matter what we are going through. Thank you for loving us. In Jesus name…Amen.
