Joshua 21:45
"Not a word failed of any good thing which the LORD had spoken to the house of Israel. All came to pass."
I am continually amazed at how easy it is to get overwhelmed with life thereby forgetting that God is in control. How easy it is to panic and take things into our own hands when God has clearly promised He will work all things out. I know that when I am frustrated and impatient it is because I am not trusting God at His word. If anyone had reason to be fearful, it was Joshua, having seen some of the obstacles that they would face as they entered into the promised land. Instead of caving into fear and apprehension, Joshua walked in the blessings of God…not because they were always evident but rather because He stood on every promise of God. The end result was being able to look back and see that "not a word failed of any good thing which the LORD had spoken." We must pray for the faith to believe this to be true in our lives…especially when we are not seeing it. We must remember what the Lord spoke through the prophet Isaiah, "So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it." Isaiah 55:11. Rest assured that God will do what He says He will do. Jesus said, "assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled." Matt 5:18. The issue with the Lord is never IF…but rather WHEN. May we never forget…that each and every word that our Lord proclaims…will come to pass. We can absolutely count on it!
Father, thank you for the reminder through Joshua that Your words are faithful and true. Help us this week to trust this to be the case in our lives. Strengthen our hearts in our waiting. Encourage us when we find ourselves discouraged because of circumstances or mere impatience while waiting. Renew our hearts this week and fill us with great anticipation for the fulfilled Word in our lives. We love you and need you so very much! In Jesus’ wonderful name…Amen.
I pray that you have an exciting week of discovering God’s words coming to pass in your lives. May your eyes be open wide to the things the Holy Spirit wants to reveal to you. May you be like Joshua at the end of your week…reflecting on the things that accomplished on your behalf…drawing you to a deeper trust and love for the Lord.
