Isaiah 45:18-19
"I am the LORD, and there is no other. I have not spoken in secret, in a dark place of the
earth; I did not say to the seed of Jacob 'Seek me in vain;' I, the LORD, speak righteousness,
I declare things that are right."
We can all identify with the maddening process of losing or misplacing things. We are all familiar with the process of
tracing our steps…thinking of every conceivable place we might have left our keys or an important piece of mail or a
document we need. How frantically we search hinges on the importance or urgency of the item we are looking for.
Imagine what it would be like if, WHENEVER you lost something and began to search for it, you were guaranteed to find
it. Oh, what a glorious thing that would be! 1 Chronicles 28:9 tells us, If you seek Him, He will be
found by you. James 4:8 says, Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.
Isaiah is saying the same thing. God tells us that
He is not hiding somewhere speaking in secret, in a dark place of the earth. He is speaking clearly, out in the
open, through all of nature around us, through the Holy Spirit, and through His son Jesus Christ. When we fail
to hear the Lord, it is never because He is not speaking, but rather because we are not listening. Or because
we are so frantically looking to resolve our own problems and situations -- crying out, “Dear God…where are
you?” – when, in fact, He is there all along! Have you been frantically looking for something lately,
consciously or unconsciously pushing God aside? If and when that is the case, we must stop, call upon the
Lord and then let Him speak resolve into our lives. When we do this, His resolution to every situation we
face will indeed be found. How do we know this to be true? Because He said, I, the LORD, speak
righteousness, I declare things that are right.”
Oh Lord, forgive us for the times we frantically look for resolve in our lives and fail to look to You.
Thank you for the reminder through Isaiah, that you are not hiding somewhere speaking some secret, but that you are
always available, eager to be found as we seek You. Open our eyes, Lord, to the things we are trying to figure out
-- that we might be righteously led, always making right decisions. In Jesus’ name…Amen.
May the Lord richly bless and encourage you this week, as you draw near to Him. I pray that your eyes will be wide open to the marvelous things He wants to speak to you this week. Rest assured His solutions for you are always, always the right ones.
