God's Tabernacle

Psalm 15
LORD, who may abide in Your tabernacle? Who may dwell in Your holy hill? 2 He who walks uprightly, And works righteousness, And speaks the truth in his heart; 3 He who does not backbite with his tongue, Nor does evil to his neighbor, Nor does he take up a reproach against his friend; 4 In whose eyes a vile person is despised, But he honors those who fear the LORD; He who swears to his own hurt and does not change; 5 He who does not put out his money at usury, Nor does he take a bribe against the innocent. He who does these things shall never be moved.

As I read this Psalm my response to, “Lord, who may abide in Your tabernacle?” is “Not me Lord!”. Why, because I fall short in the things these verses speak of. I don’t always speak truth in my heart. There are times when I backbite with my tongue. And I have evil thoughts towards my neighbor. Just when I figure I am doomed, I consider that through Jesus Christ and his death and resurrection I will abide in God’s tabernacle. 2 Corinthians 5:21 tells us that this is true, For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

What a marvelous truth we can live in because we have trusted in Jesus. We need never hang our heads down, walking around feeling unworthy. Of course we fall short of God’s best for us but the truth is that we stand righteous before God because of Jesus. This should inspire us to hold our heads high, eager to tell the world…”Jesus is Lord!”.

Jesus, how could we ever thank you enough for the price you paid that enables us to one day abide in Your tabernacle. Because of you, we shall never be moved. We praise you for this incredible truth. Help us to accept it though we are unable to comprehend it. May the Holy Spirit strengthen us this day and week that we would walk in victory in all areas of our lives. May we praise your name forever. In your unfailing love we pray…Amen.

May your life be forever changed as you walk in the glorious truths of His word. May you find yourselves being swept away in the love and understanding of His grace you as you experience His blessings this week.
