Jesus Will Keep Us

2 Timothy 1:12
I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day.

When I was in Jr. High School the 'Rock & Roll' revival was going strong. The Beatles and the Dave Clark Five and all of the groups from England followed by groups from other countries with American groups right in tow, were all the craze. Teenagers couldn't wait to see which group would appear on the Ed Sullivan variety show, not to mention shows like Hullabaloo and Shindig. I know I am dating myself here, but you would have had to of been a teenager at that time to appreciate all that was taking place in the world of 'Rock & Roll'.

It seems that everyone was determined to start a band, practice in the garage, play a few gigs and get discovered. My brother's friend was a drummer in a local band called, 'The Eddies', and they were much better than the average garage band, traveling around and playing in other cities. I will never forget when, as an impressionable young teen, my brother's friend's parents, knowing I was an aspiring drummer, made arrangements for me to go to one of his shows. I was mesmerized as I watched him play and couldn't wait to tell my friends about the experience, especially that I knew the drummer for 'The Eddies'.

Today, no offense to 'The Eddies', it really doesn't mean anything that I knew their drummer, because I know Jesus. And in knowing Jesus, I really don't need to know anything or anyone else, for I know whom I have believed. I have, unashamedly, committed my life to Him, and I am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day. What is that Day referring to? It is the day of judgment, the day when the Lord will judge the evil in this world, create a new heaven and a new earth and we will live with Him forevermore. Who do you know? In whom have you believed? Are you persuaded that He is able to keep you, until that Day? Listen, He is able and He will keep you! And when that Day has come, there will be nothing more glorious, more grand than being with Jesus!

Oh Lord, what a marvelous thing it is that we can know you in the way that we do. Thank you for revealing yourself to us through Jesus Christ. Thank you that You love us so much that you have made a way to 'keep us' until that Day. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen!

My dear friends, let us rejoice in whom we know and in whom we have believed. I pray that you will be encouraged beyond measure as you look to Jesus. May you grow in your confidence that He will keep you secure, until that great and glorious Day!
