Jeremiah 15:16
Your words were found, and I ate them, And Your word was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart;
For I am called by Your name, O LORD God of hosts.
It is amazing how good God's Word is and how the Word truly causes our hearts to
rejoice with joy. It is equally amazing how easy it is to neglect something so
good. Every time I open the Word, without fail, God speaks to my heart. Whether it
is for five minutes or fifty minutes, I find that it is "living and active" (Hebrews 4:12).
I find that it is a "lamp unto my feet" (Psalm 119:105), directing me in all the ways I should go.
Jeremiah was a man who would face much adversity and persecution in his role as a prophet of God.
He was faced with bringing a message to a people who didn't want to hear it…for forty years he spoke
the truth. And yet, no one listened. Where did he turn when no one listened, no one cared and he was
discouraged? He turned to God's word…Your word was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart….
When we find ourselves in a place of discouragement…that is the best time to
'chow down' and eat God's word until we are completely stuffed. The awesome thing is, the more we eat the
more we want and we find that we are never fully satisfied because there is so much to consume. Praise be
to God for the unlimited portions of God's word that are always available to us any time we want…
bringing us unspeakable joy and rejoicing of heart!
Oh Lord, your words are Spirit and they are life. Your words bring
lasting comfort. They are real. They penetrate our soul and spirit. May we look
to your word every day. May we always be found in every word that comes from you.
In Jesus name…Amen.
I pray that you would be encouraged to consider His word each and every day. Don't let the enemy rob you of the
"joy and rejoicing" that await you each time you open the Word. It is the ultimate book of instruction in
righteousness. May you have a righteous week in Jesus!
