Have you desired to improve your teaching skills, get some new ideas, see what others are doing in your area of ministry? Then this is the opportunity for you. In order to provide a wider variety of input at times that are convenient, we are offering the S.E.R.V.e. Certification program.
The goal of this program is to offer our Teachers/Assistants training that will keep the Children's Ministry growing into all that the Lord has for us, the children, and parents. Those participating in the program are encouraged to earn their certification within 2 years by completing all 5 areas. After that, you will be encouraged to complete two areas each year to keep up to date (continuing education). Parts of the program may be completed in any order with the exception of evaluation which is done after the first 4 are completed. When you complete a section of the program please fill out the appropriate paperwork and turn it into Pastor Phil Spagnolo or Tammy Wilson. Everyone is encouraged to participate. The program consists of the following areas:
S - Seminar - Attend one SHCC Annual Mandatory CM Training and 3 EFM workshops yearly and at least 1 convention, conference, or training outside of SHCC in 2 years. Write a brief summary on each event attended.
E - Education - Take a correspondence course, a course from a local college/seminary, video course, or on-line course, and write a brief summary. Prior approval must be given before taking the course.
R - Read - Read a book that would help you be more effective in your ministry then write a "book report". Books will be available to be checked out from our S.E.R.V.e. library. Also available will be a form outlining how to write a book report.
V - Visit - Observe another church in your area of ministry. You would observe the ministry program, glean, and talk with the ministers of the other church. A brief summary will need to be written regarding your visit and a signature required from the CM Director or Pastor at the church that you observe. There will be a list of participating churches available.
e - Evaluation - This is an opportunity for you to be constructively evaluated in your area of ministry. You would arrange with Pastor Phil Spagnolo or Tammy Wilson for a convenient time to be observed after all areas of S.E.R.V.e. are completed. A follow-up discussion would then be scheduled with Pastor Phil Spagnolo. The purpose is to help you be the best that you can be for the Lord's service. Whichever one of the Children's Ministry Leadership Team Member is evaluating you will have a standard form that will be filled out and signed by the Teacher/Assistant being evaluated and the CM Leadership Team Member doing the evaluating.
